All I can say is: what a fun weekend and what an awesome bunch of people! 10-12th August would definitely be the highlight of my final year. We kicked off our adventure with our departure from Dent School at 5.30pm on Friday night. Alexandra’s Subway was clearly not expecting us when they ran out of bread 3 people into the cue, but from what I heard the new Turkish place was to die for and everyone managed to get fed. We arrived in a very timely manner at Pinewood Lodge so that our bus driver, Ian (bless his heart), could have his mandatory 10-hour break before driving us to Coronet peak at 8am on Saturday morning.

What a day Saturday was. I never would have thought it would be too hot to wear a ski jacket on a Queenstown mountain. We were all suffering heat exhaustion 2 runs into morning. The weather made up for the relatively icy slopes and fortunately there were no major injuries. BDS5 RG and JM won the prize for the most falls during the day with a combined total well into the triple figures. Later that night, the walking school bus arrived at our private booking with Lone Star and demolished the much-anticipated pork ribs and nibbles with some discounted drinks. There’s never a dull night in Qtown!

We all got our fix of the unique Queenstown delicacies on Sunday morning and enjoyed the town’s sight-seeing splendor until hitting the road at 1pm. Thanks to everyone for a lovely weekend. If you weren’t able to go this year, make sure you get amongst next year! Love, Chantelle (Sports Rep).
